Meridian Youth provides support, education, and health and wellbeing promotion to young LGBTIQA+ people aged 15-25 in the Canberra region. Meridian Youth collaborates with other youth organisations and schools in the Canberra region to provide support and education regarding engagement and supporting LGBTIQA+ youth.
On the Facebook and Instagram pages, Meridian Youth has launched its sexual health and wellbeing campaign. This campaign works to promote sexual health literacy and education on healthy relationships, mental health resilience and communication skills for young LGBTIQA+ people.
Encampment
Encampment 2022 is an overnight camp for LGBTIQA+ young people aged 13-17!
Encampment is an inclusive and fun space for young LGBTIQA+ people to gather and gain social support and build their social connections. Encampment aims to bring local LGBTIQ+ young people together, to support participants to navigate their gender identities and sexualities, and strengthen their connection to the community. You’ll get to hang out with community, participate in awesome activities, and have a full camp experience!
Young participants will be supported by a group of mentors. Encampment 2021 is a program hosted by A Gender Agenda (AGA) and Meridian, our organisations provide a range of services and supports for LGBTIQA+ young people.
Due to 2021 lockdowns, Encampment 2021 needed to move online, our next in person Encampment is April 2022! To register your interest for 2022 go to the A Gender Agenda website!
Supervision of young people will be provided, and all staff and volunteers have current Working with Vulnerable People registration.
